RJ MANISH

The angry young man of SFM Bangalore, Manish Chandra, is the person who handles a large chunk of the responsibilities. He is the perfect guy to get job done, perfectly and quickly. Having completed two years with us, he is by far the guy who knows almost everything about radio, but his humbleness is what is appreciated in the office. He is the face of SFM in Bangalore with the evergreen OB show Hegide Nammuru. His presence on TV as a VJ is an added advantage to us since he is recognized as Manish or Manishanna where ever he goes. There has been no day when his OB shows have had less than 50 people turning up at the venue and half of them just to see who’s Manish.

Down to earth and always up to something new, he is the sprit behind the evening shows. He probably has done every show on SFM except the ladies special shows. His style of presentation and radio personality has helped the station to gain the crème-de-la-crème listenership. His initials state him as MCP but being a born ladies man he is darling of the station of course the listeners.

Do get in touch with RJ Manish call 41237935 between 20:00 to 22:00 from Monday to Saturday. Or leave a comment on this article, Boss Manish will get in touch with you.

EARTH DAY

There is always much ado and hoopla that is created by everybody when conservation of nature is in question. But, Superhits 93.5 SFM decided to take the whole issue a step further. We, with support from Reva Electric Car Company, Energy Brigade and Wipro, initiated a process that will definitely have long lasting effects and will leave lasting impressions in the minds of people and force them to think before they do anything that will have adverse effect on the environment.

The dawn of April 22nd brought a whole new dimension to the SFM office. It was time for action and not just mere words. The whole SFM team sprung into action and took the event forward with energy and enthusiasm.

To begin with, we had Energy Brigade volunteers in our studios to talk and enlighten our listeners about the various way in which people can conserve energy and adopt various methods to help protect environment. They encouraged use of public transport, replacing the normal incandescent bulbs with CFLs and also promoted using public transport. Listeners called and interacted with the volunteers and cleared all their doubts regarding various environment related issues.

Reva Electric Car Company came forward to have a tie up with us to promote this noble cause. Reva Electric cars are pollution free and run on electric charge. We thought this was a great reason to promote them. Our RJs went around the city in Reva Cars giving details regarding the car and how using it would reduce carbon dioxide emissions and contribute to a cleaner and greener environment. We also ran contest in our shows to promote Reva Electric Car. Listeners had to spot the cars with the stickers E.A.R.T.H and message us the location to win test drive and goody bags from Reva Electric Car Company.

The use of public transport has always been an issue that has been sidelined. We took up this cause. Our RJs along with our outdoor jock Manish and noted environmentalist Suresh Heblikar travelled in BMTC buses and asked people to do the same. The response was overwhelming as more and more people joined our team in the eco-friendly buses.

Noted environmentalist and Kannada Matinee idol Suresh Heblikar was in our studios to share his views on the issue. He has taken keen interest in planting trees in Bangalore and has been promoting the same for a very long time now. His efforts are definitely worth recognition and appreciation. We salute his noble endeavour.
Wipro Technologies is one institute that has taken keen interest in environment related activities. So, we at SFM definitely had to have a tie up with them to promote a cleaner earth. Wipro organized four day long activity in their campus and on the final day our RJs drove to their campus in Reva Electric Cars and interacted with the employees for nearly two hours and shared valuable information and gave suggestion and ideas for a cleaner atmosphere.

We realized the social responsibility that rests upon us and we did our bit to conserve and preserve Earth. Various initiatives and actions will definitely have impact on our listeners. We hope that our efforts will not go in vain and together with our listeners we shall gift the next generation a cleaner and greener Earth.

Our OB jock Manish visited Joggers Park in various locations across the city, interacting with the listeners on – air about the importance of Jogging everyday. These events were conducted in association with Apollo Hospital, Bannerghatta road and many vouchers for a health check up were given away for the winners of contests held at Superhits 93.5 SFM throughout the week. Well known choreographer Crazy Kiran who teaches dance all over Bangalore visited our studio to say much more than Namaskara Bengaluru with Deepa.
Each show was flooded with callers who kept trying our lines till they got through to the show. During the shows, people were repeatedly told to call into our studio at 41237935 to clarify their queries with the Doctors on air. “The callers’ interaction has been phenomenal. It was a superhit campaign and the message of health and well being was conveyed to the listeners and we look forward to do many more campaigns like these as we create awareness among the people” says Daya, Cluster head of Superhits 93.5 SFM Karnataka.

The Doctors have enjoyed the experience of going on air and reaching out to the listeners personally. They were glad to receive a huge response and to know that people of Bengaluru are aware and greatly concerned about health and well being. The experts were eager to share their knowledge with our bengalurians. They also listened to the I for India campaign being aired and volunteered to participate and expressed their views about the upcoming elections.
The shows followed a smooth schedule. “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” is an old saying that is told mainly to children every now and then. Keeping children and their fragile health in mind, an OB activity was organized at Mantri Elite apartments, Bannerghatta road. Children flocked around and participated in the lively events and games that were designed as part of the Health week special. SFM in Kannada Film Industry

The story of Superhits 93.5 SFM is not very different from that of the Kannada film industry. The largest and most popular radio network today started with a lot of apprehension and anxiety only to gain all the popularity it enjoys today. The uniqueness of the network lies in its small team with big dreams. We started as the first and only network to play Kannada songs. This not only gave us the much required impetus but also gave the listeners what they had in mind, freshness, uniqueness and of course non-stop access to Kannada songs which they were not used to. This was the fact that was unique to SFM and the Kannada film industry.
We came to be recognized as the station that was tailor made for the Kannada film industry. Karnatakada Athi Dodda Radio network caters to the taste, choice and preferences of the people of Karnataka.
We promote the Kannada films through our movie tie-ups and special OBs on the day of release. This is a unique trend that was set by SFM that is being followed by others. After all, are we not known to set standards that others follow?
Movie Tie-Ups
SFM has come up with a very special way of promoting movies – movie tie-ups.
· We play the hit song of the movie up to 15 times a day.
· We conduct special contests and give away great prizes.
· The voice bits of the star cast is played before a particular song giving trivia and interesting insights into the movie.
The industry has welcomed this gesture of ours wholeheartedly and the proof for this is the number of tie-ups we have had. The numbers and notable movie tie-ups we have had speak for themselves.
Maadesha contest gave people a chance to get their hands on the costumes worn by Shivraj Kumar.
The people who participated in Taj Mahal contest had a golden chance to dine with the star cast which included Pooja Gandhi and Ajay Rao.
To mention a few hit and popular movies we have promoted are Maadesha, Duniya, Mungaru Male, Buddivanta, Nanda loves Nanditha, Shivamani, Tajmahal, Mast Maja Maadi, Patre loves Padma, Savi Savi Nenapu, Slum Bala, Nannusire and the color version of Satya Harishchandra.
The movie tie-up has become so popular that more movies are eager to get themselves promoted by us. Our doors are wide open for them. The respect and gratitude is mutual and we take great pleasure in these promotions.
Satya Harishchandra
On April 24, 2008, the much awaited colour version of the Kannada classic ‘Satya Harishchandra’ starring Kannada matinee idol Dr.Rajkumar was released. Incidentally, April 24 is the birth day of the veteran actor Dr.Rajkumar.
For the first time in the history of South Indian cinema, a black and white movie was being colorized. 1965 classic, ‘Satya Harishchandra’ set new standards in the Kannada film industry. Almost every time this film got released in Bangalore, it went on to run for over 100 days. The film cast was impressive with some of the finest actors in the industry giving exemplary performances. The roles which are still remembered by the fans are – King of Ayodhya, Harishchandra (Dr.Rajkumar), Maharshi Vishwamitra (Uday Kumar), Nakshatrika (Narasimharaaju), Veerabaahu( MP Shankar). The songs of the movie are evergreen and still popular among the masses even to this day.
SFM took immense pride and happiness in being associated with the re-release of the colour version of this magnanimous movie that had created history and went on to create history once again. SFM was the official radio partner for this movie and more than pride and happiness, it was a matter of respect and trust for us to be associated with a project of this stature.

75 years and SFM
Learning is a process and not a destination. Well, this is what we have learned from our mentors, the Kannada Film Industry. Having come a long way, the industry is still young at heart and continues to experiment with new techniques and methods. This has in fact given a new dimension to the entire industry. It is hard to believe that the Kannada film industry has covered a journey of 75 years. It is a journey that has taught us many things, has corrected us at many junctures and has made us aware of our strengths and capabilities. This occasion definitely calls for celebrations of big magnitude. The stage is all set and we are ready for the celebration.
The first thought that came into almost everybody’s mind was the kind of promotion an activity of this magnitude would need. We were extremely happy to hear that the Kannada Film Industry took a very apt decision at this juncture. They chose Superhits 93.5 SFM as the official radio partners for the celebrations. Happy and proud at the same time, we have taken utmost care and concern to promote this gala which in itself is nothing less than a milestone.
The SFM team has come up with great plans and strategies for the same. We have planned special promos, contests and events.
Dialogue Durbar – one of the very innovative ideas that SFM has come up with for Amruthamahotsava. To remind people some of the famous dialogues from the movies, we will be playing landmark dialogues from different movies cut and edited exactly the way people want to hear them.
Retro Ratri, our tailor made show that takes keen interest in the history of Kannada films is in the spotlight. We have lined up 75 famous personalities for 25 days. We will be talking about their life and film career throughout the show. We will be speaking about known and unknown facets regarding their life.
Shows between Youngadiga and Retro Ratri will catch the limelight with Minugu Taare contest. The listeners will be asked to guess the voice of a celebrity that will be played on-air.
Our shows Aadi Mast maja Maadi, Oota Aytha and Popcorn will be conducting special quiz contests for the cel;ebrations.
Mast Mayuri, the show between 1 and 2 in the afternoon will have a special quiz aptly titled Amruthamahotsava contest.
It is indeed a matter of great pride for everyone who is associated with the Kannada Film Industry, SFM and above all, Karnataka.
