Ugadi Celebrations at Sobha Tulip

Superhits 93.5 SFM, your friendly neighborhood radio station never leaves a stone unturned in reaching out to you. When the whole of Bangalore is celebrating the beginning of the Kannada New Year, how does it feel to have Santa Claus visiting you with loads of gift hampers? Well, no prizes for guessing. Our RJs Manish and Deepa, played Santa visiting the homes of Sobha Tulip residents at JP Nagar, on the day of Ugadi. Excited residents were more than happy to share their experiences with our RJs and listeners.

Many families, many customs, one location- Sobha Tulip. A family celebrating Ugadi in Bangalore after 7 years; some families keeping a low profile as the kids had their exams lined up; a Maharashtrian family celebrating Gudi Padva, the Maharashtrian equivalent of our very own Ugadi; other North Indians celebrating the day with their Kannadiga neighbors, all this and much more, shared with our listeners on air from 11am to 2pm. Many South Indian families belonging to different cultural background, shared their customs and ways of celebrating this auspicious day, in the most traditional manner.
RJ Manish and Deepa, not only played Santa, but also ended up looking like one at the end of the event. Homemade sweets and savouries- holige, payasa, sheera, puliogare, chitranna, etc from different houses in the premises filled the air with festivity. Manish and Deepa made the RJs at the studios go green with envy, with the kind of gala time they were having on this festive day. Our dear listeners got to experience a cultural mélange on this festive occasion through this activity.
